Nirvana, 20 years since Nevermind was released!

Who can forget Nirvana?  Nirvana was an American rock band that was formed in the 80s by Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic.  They released their first album ‘Bleach’ and established itself as part of the Seattle grunge scene.  In 1990, after a long succession of drummers, Dave Grohl joined Nirvana.  Then Nirvana became a household name in 1991 with the release of their second album ‘Nevermind’ and the first hit single ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’.

With the death of Kurt Cobain in 1994, Nirvana was no longer.

I guess we will be left wondering…… how big would Nirvana have been?

Def Leppard has been transformed!

Yes you heard right…. Def Leppard have been transformed by Rockabye Baby into lullabies to help rock your baby to sleep.

Def Leppard are an English rock back which formed back in 1977.  With a list of albums to their name including High ‘n’ Dry, Hysteria and more recently Mirrorball: Def Leppard are one of the worlds best-selling music artists having sold more that 65 million albums worldwide!

Are you a fan of The Flaming Lips?

The Flaming Lips are an American rock band, formed in Norman, Oklahoma in 1983.

Melodically, their sound contains lush, multi-layered, psychedelic rock arrangements, but lyrically their compositions show elements of space rock.  They are renowned for their unusual song and album titles—such as “Psychiatric Explorations of the Fetus with Needles”, “Free Radicals (A Hallucination of the Christmas Skeleton Pleading with a Suicide Bomber)” and “Yeah, I Know It’s a Drag… But Wastin’ Pigs Is Still Radical”.

They are also acclaimed for their elaborate live shows, which feature costumes, balloons, puppets, video projections, complex stage light configurations, giant hands, large amounts of confetti, and frontman Wayne Coyne’s signature man-sized plastic bubble, in which he traverses the audience. I personally got to see The Flaming Lips play at the Big Day Out 2004 in Adelaide and in true The Flaming Lips style the show went off with a bang!

I have to say i was a little surprised when Rockabye Baby announced they were expecting and it was The Flaming Lips that they were transforming into the latest lullaby cd.  Now that i have listened to the lullaby cd, i can honestly say i love it!  With a range of cool tracks including Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots Pt.1, The Yeah Yeah Yeah song and Do You Realize? all featuring on the new album.

I am talking about Weezer the American alternative rock band which formed in 1992. They have released nine full-length albums, six EPs, and a DVD and sold over nine million records in the United States to date.

Now Weezer has been transformed from timeless rock songs into beautiful instrumental lullabies.

Are you a fan of Black Sabbath or Kanye West?

Rockabye Baby! has a few new releases that are now available in store.  As you know at A Little Bit of Cheek we stock the entire Rockabye Baby range.  Personally i am not a fan of Kanye West, nor do i think he rocks however i do know he has a lot of fans.  So if you love ‘Gold Digger’ ‘Good Morning’ and ‘Homecoming’ just to name a few then you will want to introduce your little one to this lullaby cd.
