Are you a fan of The Flaming Lips?

May 27th, 2011

The Flaming Lips are an American rock band, formed in Norman, Oklahoma in 1983.

Melodically, their sound contains lush, multi-layered, psychedelic rock arrangements, but lyrically their compositions show elements of space rock.  They are renowned for their unusual song and album titles—such as “Psychiatric Explorations of the Fetus with Needles”, “Free Radicals (A Hallucination of the Christmas Skeleton Pleading with a Suicide Bomber)” and “Yeah, I Know It’s a Drag… But Wastin’ Pigs Is Still Radical”.

They are also acclaimed for their elaborate live shows, which feature costumes, balloons, puppets, video projections, complex stage light configurations, giant hands, large amounts of confetti, and frontman Wayne Coyne’s signature man-sized plastic bubble, in which he traverses the audience. I personally got to see The Flaming Lips play at the Big Day Out 2004 in Adelaide and in true The Flaming Lips style the show went off with a bang!

I have to say i was a little surprised when Rockabye Baby announced they were expecting and it was The Flaming Lips that they were transforming into the latest lullaby cd.  Now that i have listened to the lullaby cd, i can honestly say i love it!  With a range of cool tracks including Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots Pt.1, The Yeah Yeah Yeah song and Do You Realize? all featuring on the new album.

Rockabye Baby are the only choice when it comes to rock lullabies.  They transform timeless rock songs into beautiful instrumental lullabies.  This is the perfect way for you to introduce your little rocker to the music you love.

As you know at A Little Bit of Cheek we stock the entire series and they are all available in store now for $33.95 plus you can listen to samples of the tracks on our website before you buy.

Firstly, thank you to Raegan for allowing me to pimp myself on her blog. *Thanks!*

My name is Liz, I am a Mother of 3 young kidlets aged 2,4 & 5.
When I’m not changing nappies, feeding mouths and avoiding 50 baskets of dirty laundry, you can usually find me on Twitter, Facebook or writing on my Blog at Mumstrosity.com.

Mumstrosity.com is not only the home of my personal blog, but also features a collection of ‘real life’ stories from myself and other Mums (Dads welcome too) about times when parenting hasn’t gone the way it ought to; Times when we’ve screwed up.
It’s about sharing our experiences to know that it’s ok to not be perfect. I welcome you to share your stories too.
This year saw the first Aussie Bloggers Conference in Sydney, and I was lucky enough to have A Little Bit of Cheek put their hand up to Sponsor me, and ultimately help me get there.

It was a great experience to be able to meet all the women (and a handful of men) that I have been following the lives of, and socialising with through blogging. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for next year!

Being a web addicted soul, I love shopping online, and what I like best about A Little Bit of Cheek is the unique range that you won’t find in any local department store.

Here are my top 3 picks from A Little Bit of Cheek this month:

1. Micro Me Army Shorts $39.95

2. Two Belles Owl Velour Jacket $38.00

3. Two Belles Hearts Jarmeez $18.00
